Because A Child Grows Up Only Once

Our mission is to nurture the whole child, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually, preparing students for academic excellence, confident, lifelong learning and responsible, caring lives..

Montessori based curriculum teaches children to think and discover for themselves. Our school is designed to help each student develop his/her unique talents and possibilities. Learning the right answers will get you through school. Learning how to learn will get you through life!

The basis of our approach is the simple observation that children learn most effectively through direct experience and the process of investigation and discovery. We promote active learning by using hands-on and group learning. We follow a well established curricular framework that includes expectations for basic academic achievement at each level. We guide the student to meet his/her challenges with set goals culminating in a sense of accomplishment, closure, and recognition.

We recognize that before students can take advantage of a challenging education, they have to discover their innate abilities. They need to develop a strong sense of independence, self-confidence, and self-discipline. We seek to inspire a passion for excellence and to nurture curiosity, creativity, and imagination. Our goal is not only to give students a fine education, but to prepare them for life.

We teach our students from an early age that the education they receive comes with the responsibility to help others within our immediate and extended community. We also teach them that the responsibility to change our world for the better lies with each of us, and that service needs to be an accepted part of everyone's life if we are to achieve this goal.

The Montessori School of Anderson was founded in 1973 by a group of local families who were committed to giving their children and the Anderson community an education based on the research of Dr. Maria Montessori. We are a vital community of approximately 300 children and their families and more than 65 staff, all working together to provide the best possible atmosphere for optimum growth of the students. We want to ensure that the Montessori School of Anderson flourishes for the children of today and for generations to come.

The Montessori School of Anderson welcomes and considers all applications on the basis of equality without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, marital status, height, weight, gender identity or sexual orientation as well as children with moderate exceptionalities provided the school and family agree placement would be appropriate. MSA seeks to admit students and families who share and support our educational goals and values. Admission priority is given to students currently attending MSA. Receipt of this application and application fee does not guarantee placement. New applications are reviewed and placements are made as appropriate openings occur. A limited amount of financial aid is available; please contact the school for further information.
