Montessori School of Anderson and New Covenant Present

Curious Savage

The Montessori School of Anderson and New Covenant School have joined together to present The Curious Savage by John Patrick. Performances are March 18-20th at the Electric City Playhouse in Anderson. The Montessori School is dedicated to creative individual learning focused on a student’s unique gifts. New Covenant School is a Christian classical school devoted to developing each student’s gifts in a rich cultural environment. The two schools are united in the belief that artistic expression is vital to a well-rounded education.

Set in the late 1950, The Curious Savage is an endearing story that centers around one Mrs. Ethel Savage, whose wealthy husband has recently died leaving her a fortune which she wants to spend helping other people’s dreams come true. Her greedy stepchildren, discontent with the cushy lives already bought for them, have had her declared mentally incompetent and committed to a sanitarium. Inside the sanitarium’s walls, Mrs. Savage finds a gentle and dignified group of people, surprisingly young, whose misalignment with the real world is in contrast to their love for each other. They reaffirm Mrs. Savage’s conviction that the value of life lies not in wealth, but in joy given freely. They also become unlikely allies when her children find that Mrs. Savage managed, just before being committed, somehow to hide all of the money!
Young and old alike will enjoy this classic comedy performed by a joint cast of New Covenant and MSA high school students at the Electric City Playhouse March 18-20 with 7 pm evening shows and a 3 pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets are $5 and are available in the school offices.  Call 864-226-5344 (MSA) or 864-224-8724 (NCS) for information or to reserve tickets.
