Suzuki Violin Program

Program Focus is on Primary and Lower Elementary Classes

The Montessori School of Anderson announced the introduction of the first ever school-based Suzuki violin program for the Anderson area in August 2005.   The program began with instruction for ages 3, 4, & K-5 and has grown to included 1st-3rd graders.  Montessori students have the benefit of a Suzuki music program during their daily curriculum.

“Through support from our parents, alumni and community via our annual fund campaign and support of community advisors such as GAMAC, the Montessori School of Anderson is delighted to offer a Suzuki program that provides educational enrichment to our children,"  said John Stathakis, former MSA board president.

Monica Pryor, a Master Suzuki instructor with 30 years of experience and training, helped start our program.   Having participated in the Suzuki program as a child and having provided violin instruction to students for the last 20 years, Monica Pryor brought a love of music and personal experience to our program.

“The Montessori School of Anderson has a long history of parental involvement.   Furthermore, the classroom situation is set up so that the violin can be played every day. And given the devoted and caring teachers of the young children and their desire to be involved with the learning process, all of the ingredients of a successful program of Suzuki music education are in place,” said Karen Holt, Administrator and school founder.

“GAMAC is pleased to offer support and advisement to the Montessori School of Anderson as they help us strengthen the musical and cultural outreach in the community,” said Alex Spainhour, Executive Director of Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium.
