Our school uses a “phase-in” approach to reestablish expectations with returning students so that our new students enter an orderly, respect-filled environment.
During these first days, Grace and Courtesy lessons, a part of the Montessori Peace curriculum, play an important for establishing a peaceful “normalized” community. Grace and courtesy lessons are the foundation for all classroom procedures and include how to greet someone, how to ask a question, how to choose a work, how to stand/walk in line, how to self-serve snack/lunch, how to solve a disagreement, and much more.
